Half of Seahawks o-line on Wednesday injury report

Sunday the Seattle Seahawks will face the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round of the NFC playoffs, and when they do so they might be shorthanded in the trenches following a string of injuries to the offensive line.

Regular starting center Justin Britt hasn’t played since leaving the Week 8 game against the Atlanta Falcons with a torn ACL, and the new starter, Joey Hunt, was once again held out of Wednesday practice with a leg injury. Left tackle Duane Brown has not played since Week 15 and may be unavailable again following a recent meniscus procedure, and left guard Mike Iupati did not practice as he is on the mend from a Week 17 neck injury.

In short, the line is down to using backups, except even the backup left tackle, George Fant, was out of practice on Wednesday with a groin issue. That could prove problematic with the weather predicted to be cold for the game on Sunday, and helps explain why the team promoted tackle Chad Wheeler from the practice squad.

In short, with the “lose and you’re out” nature of the postseason, the injury report bears watching particularly closely this week.
