Report: Seahawks sign Mychal Kendricks to their practice squad

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Cleveland Browns Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Seahawks went through their bye week with an open spot on the practice squad and didn’t immediately fill it upon returning to the building on Monday. By Wednesday morning they had, however, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting Mychal Kendricks was returning to Seattle as a member of the practice squad.

As Schefter added, Kendricks is rejoining the Seahawks with the goal of getting back onto the 53-man roster. However, unlike Damon Harrison, there is yet to be an indication Seattle shares those plans.

The Seahawks have seen a few hits to their linebacker corps already this season, with Bruce Irvin on season-ending I.R. while Jordyn Brooks has a sprained MCL. Kendricks, much maligned a year ago, would be able to step right into the lineup if needed, with 17 starts in the system. Though his season ended with a torn ACL in Week 17 last year, he was medically cleared in July and has since took visits to Seattle and the Las Vegas Raiders.

Kendricks’ sentencing in an insider trading case was previously scheduled to occur this month, but has since been postponed until January 13, 2021. Should the Seahawks need Kendricks to step into the lineup, every indication is that he will be ready and available.
