Report: Seahawks adding Damon “Snacks” Harrison to practice squad

Tuesday the Seattle Seahawks hosted former New York Jets, New York Giants and Detroit Lions DT Damon Harrison on a free agent visit, and fans hoped that the team would add him to the mix on the interior of the defensive line. Well, reports have the Seahawks adding him, but not to the roster.

The fact he is signing to the practice squad is certainly good in that it brings him into the system and lets him begin to learn his assignments while easing into game shape and getting familiar with his teammates. However, the fact that he’s on the practice squad also means that he is free to negotiate with other teams at least through this week since the deadline for practice squad protections have closed for Week 5.

The Seattle defense has been stout against the run so far during the 2020 season, with Jarran Reed, Poona Ford, Anthony Rush and Bryan Mone holding down the defensive interior. However, the number of serious injuries across the NFL this season could certainly lead teams to believe that there is no such thing as too much depth, and it’s no secret that Pete Carroll and John Schneider are always involved when the potential to add a difference maker is out there.
