Report: Texans showing interest in 2 Seahawks front office executives

Despite the Seahawks’ continued success and Seattle’s reputation as one of the most well run front offices, rarely have John Schneider’s lieutenants received interest across the league.

Former Senior Personnel Director Ed Dodds was hired by the Colts to be their Vice President of Player Personnel and former Director of Pro Personnel Dan Morgan was hired away by the Bills. Other than that, Schneider has never seen talent be hired away. But, that could soon change.

On Saturday, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Schneider’s two top assistants, Scott Fitterer and Trent Kirchner, have already received interest from the Houston Texans.

While the interest from the Texans is unlikely to be the last we hear about the pair, with a number of front office openings soon to come, it won’t be their first chances to interview. Fitterer has previously interviewed for the Indianapolis GM job, as well as for the Jets in 2019. Kirchner, too, interviewed for the Colts in 2017, as well as interviewing for the 49ers and Lions jobs.

Earlier this season, the Seahawks gave new titles to both personnel men, promoting Fitterer to Vice President of Football Operations and Kirchner to Vice President of Player Personnel. Those titles may be short-lived, with general manager opportunities expected around the league for two long-time members of Seattle’s front office.
