Seahawks at 49ers regular season finale will be played at Cardinals’ State Farm Stadium

The Seattle Seahawks have an outstanding record at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, but local COVID-19 restrictions mean that their road game against the San Francisco 49ers will be played in Glendale.

The San Jose Mercury News confirmed that the ban, which includes no team sports played in that region, has extended into January 8th. That means the 49ers, who have played their last two home games at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, will finish up the season at the home of the Cardinals.

I already know you’re nervous about this.

Seattle lost at the Cardinals in overtime earlier this season and even though they’ve only lost there three times since Russell Wilson became the quarterback — you know which non-Cardinals game that third loss came from — usually that stadium produces serious injuries to Seahawks players regardless of game result.

Literally the only way the Seahawks can win the NFC West before Week 17 is if they win their next two games and the Los Angeles Rams tie or lose to the New York Jets. I thought so. So in other words, there’s a real chance that the Seahawks recapturing the NFC West crown depends on winning against their hated rivals in the seemingly cursed stadium of their other rivals.

What could go wrong?
