The Seahawks have made their first outside move of the 2020 legal tampering period. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Seattle and former Steelers interior lineman B.J. Finney have agreed to terms on a two-year deal worth $8 million.
The #Seahawks are signing former #Steelers OL B.J. Finney to a two-year, $8 million deal, source said. Versatile interior player who has 13 career starts.

As Pelissero notes, Finney has 13 career starts and they have come across the interior, with seven at left guard, two at right guard and the four most recent, this past season, at center. ESPN’s Brady Henderson had a further breakdown of Finney’s time at each position along the interior:
Per ESPN charting, Finney's career snaps by O-line position: 427 at left guard, 381 at center, 139 at right guard.

Seahawks have uncertainty at LG (Mike Iupati is a free agent) and C (Justin Britt is coming off a torn ACL and has a huge cap number). https://t.co/LU1ifS7OPt
Offensive line maven Brandon Thorn, of The Athletic and Establish The Run, shared his opinion on the player’s best position (or lack thereof):
I think he's one of those guys who's pretty even at all interior spots. Really nice piece to have imo. Nothing flashy, but solid.

As many have been quick to note, Finney’s addition could mean the release of Justin Britt is imminent—which would save the team $7.5 million. Alternatively, Mike Iupati is also a free agent and may not return. At $4 million APY, Finney is surely coming to the Seahawks to start, wherever that may be.
