2020 NFL Draft FanPulse: Of course defensive end is the Seahawks’ biggest need

We’ve whipped up another FanPulse just in time for the 2020 NFL Draft!

All 32 fanbases were polled asking for their thoughts on their respective favorite teams’ biggest draft needs. For your Seattle Seahawks, the question could not have been easier to answer, hence a lopsided result for “defensive end.”

Well other than everybody, nobody could’ve seen this coming.

With Jadeveon Clowney unlikely to re-sign, the extent of the Seahawks’ pass rush improvement has been to bring back Bruce Irvin and Benson Mayowa, but not a whole lot else has been done. The terrible pass rush and poor run defense alone make defensive end and the whole defensive line a top priority.

The Seahawks may have 410 offensive linemen on the roster, but they’re almost all on cheap contracts and there are valid concerns about the future of left tackle. Duane Brown will be 35 years old this season and his contract expires after the 2021 season. There are essentially no positions on the OL as a whole where the Seahawks have an unquestioned long-term starter.

Join us at 5 PM PT for live coverage of Day 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft, with the Seahawks set to trade down pick at #27.
