The Seahawks used their first round pick and Twitter reacted as expected

NCAA Football: Texas Tech at West Virginia Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports

Every year the Seattle Seahawks throw fans for a loop with their draft selections, and their use of the 27th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is no different. With their pick the team selected Jordyn Brooks, an off ball linebacker out of Texas Tech.

The team currently has the highest paid middle linebacker in football in future Hall of Famer Bobby Wagner, alongside K.J. Wright and 2019 third round draft pick Cody Barton, making the addition of Brooks a bit of a head scratcher. What this could mean for the players on the roster is extremely interesting, whether one wishes to interpret it as serious concern for Wagner’s knee, a potential Wright retirement in the coming weeks or a lack of confidence in Barton.

Regardless of how one wishes to interpret the pick, there can be no doubt that Twitter absolutely hated the selection, and did not hold back.

At least the Hawks are scheduled to have three picks on Friday.
