Every year the Seattle Seahawks throw fans for a loop with their draft selections, and their use of the 27th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is no different. With their pick the team selected Jordyn Brooks, an off ball linebacker out of Texas Tech.
The team currently has the highest paid middle linebacker in football in future Hall of Famer Bobby Wagner, alongside K.J. Wright and 2019 third round draft pick Cody Barton, making the addition of Brooks a bit of a head scratcher. What this could mean for the players on the roster is extremely interesting, whether one wishes to interpret it as serious concern for Wagner’s knee, a potential Wright retirement in the coming weeks or a lack of confidence in Barton.
Regardless of how one wishes to interpret the pick, there can be no doubt that Twitter absolutely hated the selection, and did not hold back.
Jordyn Brooks, ranked 84th on the consensus board, 7th-ranked linebacker. Of course the Seahawks took him in the first round.— Arif Hasan, but inside (@ArifHasanNFL) April 24, 2020

I think as a rule the NFL should confiscate 1st round picks from the seahawks.. Either trade the pick away or trade out of the 1st round entirely but they shouldnt be allowed to pick in the 1st.. Ever— Andre Forbes (@andref1989) April 24, 2020

Seahawks add Texas Tech ILB Jordyn Brooks at No. 27 overall.— Rob Rang (@RobRang) April 24, 2020
Positives? Rocked up at 6-0, 240. Elite speed. Developing rusher w/ exp. outside. 4-year starter. Staggering production. Sr Bowl invite.
Interestingly enough, comp I wrote for @Lindyssportsmag was Mychal Kendricks.

this team is actively building a bad offensive philosophy, a bad offensive line, a bad defense, a bad draft process, and will be rewarded with a playoff slot because russell wilson is too good.— seahawks kreia (@JasonCheathawks) April 24, 2020
