During the 2020 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks added eight new names to the roster, while adding tons of optimism for the upcoming season. The team added a powerful offensive lineman, a couple of pass rushers and some names who will compete in the return game. The most important question, however, is how many fans correctly predicted the players the Seahawks would add in the draft in the 2020 Field Gulls Armchair GM Challenge.
As noted in the post that updated the standings heading into Day 3 of the draft, there were multiple fans who correctly predicted each of the three players selected during the first two days. The number of fans who correctly predicted the first three players taken by Seattle was as follows:
- Linebacker Jordyn Brooks of Texas Tech: 7
- EDGE Darrell Taylor of Tennessee: 48
- Guard Damien Lewis of LSU: 48
So, how did fans do on Day 3? Well, not nearly as many fans correctly predicted the five players added on Saturday:
- Tight end Colby Parkinson of Stanford: 7
- Running back DeeJay Dallas of Miami: 7
- Defensive end Alton Robinson of Syracuse: 19
- Wide receiver Freddie Swain of Florida: 2
- Tight end Stephen Sullivan of LSU: 2
That means of the 298 entries, at least two fans predicted every single player selected by the Hawks.
As for the actual standings, things finished up looking like this:
10 (tie): Grizzly9625 (35)
10 (tie): FisteeFisterer (35)
9: mister bunny (36)
7 (tie): JaceFeldmeier (37)
7 (tie): anita_cocktail (37)
5: wimerek (41)
4: sh*talm (43)
3: Joe Exotic’s Eyebrow Ring (44)
2: Seahawcrates (50)
And the winner of the 2020 Field Gulls Armchair GM Challenge is:
flyin’ fijian with 52 points!
Interestingly, flyin’ fijian also finished regulation in a tie for first during the 2018 Armchair GM Challenge, but lost in overtime on the tiebreaker. Flyin’ is not the only one who finished at or near the top after strong performances in the past, as seventh place finisher anita_cocktail won the event in 2019.
Runner up Seahawcrates actually led the field in the number of players correctly guessed with three, while the entire rest of the top ten rode the coattails of two correct guesses to their final spot in the rankings.
A big thanks to everyone who participated, and congratulations to flyin’ fijian for closing out the victory this year!
