Jadeveon Clowney’s free agency saga continues on, and as our own John P. Gilbert wrote on Saturday, it could be unresolved for the foreseeable future.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, however, reported Saturday afternoon that a new team had entered the pursuit of Clowney—the Cleveland Browns.

The details Fowler added, that “some people around the league believe Cleveland got closer with Clowney than other suitors,” is interesting. It could be that the Browns’ offer approached a figure Clowney’s side deemed acceptable, or that with the uncertainty in the world, Clowney is ready to lockdown a contract sooner rather than later. As Fowler adds, the Seahawks’ offer to Clowney remains below what the pass rusher wants.

The Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta added to Fowler’s report, seeming to suggest Cleveland’s pursuit of Clowney is not yet done.

As Condotta notes, nothing is imminent, but this week has seen Seattle continue to bolster their pass rush, with the addition of Benson Mayowa, while the Titans’ acknowledged their interest in Clowney, and the Jets were connected as well—in addition to Saturday’s report of the Browns’ interest.

So, as Clowney watch continues, his list of suitors has seemingly grown.
