This is the last Casual Friday of the month, and I have to say I’m pleased that this has been received well because it’s good to have a relaxing thread where we can just shoot the shit and not argue about the value of first-round draft picks or the extent to which the Seahawks should let Russell Wilson cook.
I’m a music nut in the sense that I love listening to music and knowing more about music, along with the backstories behind some of the consensus best songs in history. If you follow the Professor of Rock on YouTube you get some amazing stories like the one on “Maneater” by Daryl Hall and John Oates.
My dad has/had a gigantic collection of vinyl records back in the day, as did my two uncles, so music runs on my father’s side of the family. As far as actually having musical talent, I’m almost certain that all of my rudimentary piano skills have eroded into having to relearn everything.
Anyway, here’s a sampling of my music playlist. I’m in my mid-20s but most of the music I like is right around the time I was born or well before my time, but I don’t care. Good music is good music and it should span any generation, any genre, any culture, etc.
Stevie Wonder - Ribbon In The Sky
Extreme - Get The Funk Out
Fitz and the Tantrums - Moneygrabber
Tears For Fears - The Working Hour
Gerry Rafferty - Home and Dry
Rihanna - Take A Bow
I’ve got plenty more and frankly too many songs to count but that’s a general idea of what I like to listen to.
