Defensive tackle P.J. Johnson wasn’t the only addition the Seahawks made on Tuesday. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Seattle claimed quarterback Danny Etling off waivers from the Falcons.

Etling was a seventh-round pick by the Patriots in the 2018 NFL Draft. The former LSU quarterback enjoyed a strong preseason as a rookie, with the passer’s best moment coming on the ground—an 86-yard touchdown scamper at the end of the 2018 preseason.
Wait, what?!

That performance allowed Bill Belichick to get a shot at Tom Brady in, something everyone can appreciate.

“I mean he had over 100 yards rushing, right? Ok so 113. When’s the last time a Quarterback ran for 85 yards for the New England Patriots? At least 20 years I mean I know that.”pic.twitter.com/fBeopVcutu
New England waived Etling in the middle of training camp in 2019, after seeing some reps at wide receiver during training camp. It was then he was claimed by Atlanta, where he remained throughout the 2019 season and throughout the offseason, before he was waived this week.
Etling joins Russell Wilson, Geno Smith, and Anthony Gordon as quarterbacks on the Seahawks’ roster. Etling’s addition to the roster is official as of Tuesday, so the roster is now full. Seattle is scheduled to play Etling’s former team in the Falcons in Week 1.
