Branden Jackson placed on injured reserve

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

On Sunday, the Seahawks brought back a member of their practice squad in 2019 with the addition of EDGE Pita Taumoepenu. With 80 players already on the roster, a corresponding move had to be made for Taumoepenu’s signing to be made official. That transaction did come ahead of Sunday’s mock game, as Seattle announced Branden Jackson was placed on injured reserve.

Jackson suffered a concussion and was knocked out during the Seahawks’ first mock game, held at CenturyLink Field. Out of respect for Jackson, who was taken away in an ambulance, Seattle ended that game early. Though Jackson was out of the hospital and back at the facility within days, Pete Carroll told reporters they were going to be cautious with the defensive end. Now on injured reserve, Jackson’s 2020 season is likely over.

In three seasons with the Seahawks, Jackson has totaled 3.5 sacks while playing in 36 games. A restricted free agent this past spring, Jackson signed an original-round tender before he was released and then brought back to Seattle shortly after.
