Russell Wilson named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks opened up the 2020 season Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons by opening up the offense for Russell Wilson. They threw early and often, they allowed Russ to play chef, and they came away with a 38-25 Week 1 victory that put the rest of the NFL on notice that the Hawks aren’t messing around this season.

While Jamal Adams had a phenomenal debut for the defense, it was Russell Wilson who headlined the victory, going 31-35 for 322 yards with four touchdowns. He also added three rushing attempts for 29 yards just to show everyone that while he may not have the same speed he did six or seven years ago, he’s fast enough to be dangerous and do some damage.

And the amount of damage he inflicted was enough to take bring home some hardware.

It’s obviously fantastic that Wilson brought home the NFC Offensive Player of the week award, but making the recognition sweeter is the other quarterback over whom he won the award, Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers had himself a fantastic day as well Sunday, going 32-44 for 364 yards and four touchdowns in a season opening victory over the Minnesota Vikings, and fans of the Green Bay Packers are upset.

But there’s at least one Packers fan who gets it.

And now it’s on to the New England Patriots in Week 2.
