After Jamal Adams was traded to the Seattle Seahawks, I broke down his skill set and my thoughts on the trade (link). As a follow-up, I wanted my latest episode of “Sam’s Film Room” to be on his debut against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1. In this game, Adams played lights out and was one of the lone bright spots on this defense. He had a fantastic game leading the team in tackles, quarterback pressures, was even the team’s best defender in pass coverage, and also created two tackles for loss as well.
While many criticized how much Seattle had to give up to acquire him from the New York Jets in the first place, this trade is already clearly paying dividends. The number of plays that Adams singlehandedly stopped instantly helped transform this defense. If what we saw from him against the Falcons is what we see every Sunday, Adams has a very good chance at making the Pro Bowl and being selected as a first-team All-Pro safety once again.
