Thursday morning began with a bang, as Josh Gordon’s return to the Seahawks was widely reported. Soon after, Damontre Moore’s agent shared news of a return to Seattle for his client, as well.

With 80 players already on the roster, the Seahawks had to make room for Gordon and Moore before those signings could become official. On Thursday afternoon, Seattle announced Gordon and Moore’s signings as well as the corresponding moves. To make room for the two new additions, the Seahawks waived UDFA wide receiver Seth Dawkins and EDGE Pita Taumoepenu.

Dawkins, a Louisville product, signed with Seattle as a UDFA following the 2020 NFL Draft. Initially waived as the Seahawks had to trim their roster from 90 to 80, Dawkins was later re-signed by the club. Dawkins was crowded out as a host of wideouts returned to practice, in addition to the signing of Lance Lenoir.

After spending time on Seattle’s practice squad last season, Taumoepenu replaced Branden Jackson on the 80-man roster after Jackson was placed on injured reserve last weekend. With the addition of Moore on Thursday, Taumoepenu became surplus to requirements.
