It’s the Tuesday after Labor Day, which for many means a return to school and the arrival of fall should be just around the corner, and for football fans it means it’s almost time for the 2020 NFL season to begin. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans will get things started at Arrowhead Stadium Thursday evening, while the Seattle Seahawks will travel cross country to take on the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1.

When the Seahawks and Falcons take the field, the Hawks will have many new faces in place on both offense and defense. From All Pro safety Jamal Adams to third round pick Damien Lewis, Seattle will have new faces on both sides of the ball. However, what isn’t changing in 2020 is who the team has named captain for each unit.

So, it’s once again Russell Wilson as captain of the offense, Bobby Wagner as the defensive caption and Neiko Thorpe for special teams, just as it was in 2019. And now, after an offseason far longer than most fans would have preferred, it’s time for those three to lead the Hawks against the Falcons in the first on-field action Seattle fans will enjoy since the divisional round loss to the Green Bay Packers ended the Hawks 2019 season.
