With the Seahawks’ season coming to an end over the weekend, the team’s practice squad was soon to be dissolved. That gave Seattle the opportunity to first sign those players to future deals, which will come into effect when the new season begins.
Of the 16 players who ended the season on the Seahawks’ practice squad, 11 were signed to future contracts on Monday. According to the league’s transaction wire, those players were:
OT Tommy Champion
QB Danny Etling
WR Aaron Fuller
WR Penny Hart
DB Gavin Heslop
DT Cedrick Lattimore
C Brad Lundblade
TE Tyler Mabry
QB Alex McGough
DB Jordan Miller
WR Cody Thompson
The large majority of those signed have been with the team for most of the year, with the exception of Lundblade, McGough, and Miller, who were all added in recent weeks.
The most noteworthy name not included is wide receiver John Ursua, who was expected by many to breakout in 2020. Instead, the second-year pro failed to even match his rookie season contributions.
Expect Seattle to sign more players to future deals in the coming days and weeks, as they begin work on the 2021 team.
