Alex Collins misses Friday practice as Seahawks designate Rashaad Penny to return

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks face an extremely important matchup against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football in one of the most important Week 7 games the Hawks have played in recent years. Already without future Hall of Famer Russell Wilson and two time thousand yard rusher Chris Carson, the team is working its way through injuries that are eating at the depth of the running back position.

That continued Friday, with third string running back and the Week 6 starter, Alex Collins, sitting out practice once again, in spite of Pete Carroll’s optimism Thursday that Collins would practice.

In addition to Collins, starting left guard Damien Lewis, wide receiver DK Metcalf and defensive end Darrell Taylor all did not practice.

However, after returning to practice Thursday, running back Rashaad Penny was officially on the NFL transaction wire Friday as designated to return.

That means Penny is able to practice to get up to speed without actually needing to come off of injured reserve. However, if he is going to play on Monday, something that seems likely, and potentially see the first start of his career against the Saints, the Hawks would need to make a roster move in order to make space on the 53 man roster for Penny.
