DK Metcalf went fast on Monday Night Football. Really fast.
During his 84-yard touchdown against the New Orleans Saints, Metcalf hit 21.31 MPH down the right sideline.

Metcalf reached a top speed of 21.31 mph on the play, his 2nd-fastest speed of his career as a ball carrier.
Since entering the NFL in 2019, no player has been targeted more on go routes than Metcalf (74).#NOvsSEA | #Seahawks pic.twitter.com/Dzw3myMkyz
It’s behind only his famous chasedown of Budda Baker when Metcalf topped out at 22.6 MPH.
In fact, it’s one of the fastest speeds recorded by a ball carrier (again) this year, behind one of the most infamous runners this season.

Henry reached a top speed of 21.80 mph, the fastest speed reached by a ball carrier this season, and fastest play of Henry's career as a ball carrier.#StatThat | Powered by @awscloud pic.twitter.com/ktP54hTnrS
That puts Metcalf just behind Derrick Henry’s fastest speed of the 2021 season, though he’d already proven himself to be a quicker runner last year.
Metcalf and his cotton candy blue hair only recorded two receptions last week, but he made Geno Smith look really good for a few minutes before Smith revealed his true colors yet again. This is not a piece to critique the offensive scheme or decision making, simply to marvel once again that Metcalf fell so far in the 2019 draft and should remain one of the best recent picks of this franchise for a number of years.
Speaking of Marshon Lattimore not being able to keep up with DK Metcalf, Lattimore was flagged twice for excessive activity with Metcalf, including some of the fun below:

After a slow start to 2021, Metcalf has established himself atop the WR charts once again. Hopefully he can do a little more damage against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
