As the Seattle Seahawks have stumbled to a 1-2 start to begin the 2021 NFL season, the scapegoat on a struggling defense for many fans has been right cornerback Tre Flowers. A 2018 draftee who played safety in college, but who has now started 40 games at corner for the Seahawks over the past three plus seasons, Flowers has been largely ineffective in coverage so far this season.
Now, according to a report from Adam Jude of the Seattle Times, that may be leading to a change in who is manning the position for the Hawks Sunday when they take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4.
Sidney Jones will get his shot today — hearing that the former Husky is set to take over at right cornerback vs. 49ers, as Pete Carroll hinted throughout the week. https://t.co/zYO8J3Eb2R

Whether “take over” means take over the starting role, or to split the job with Flowers on a rotational basis remains to be seen. However, regardless of what exactly it means for Sidney Jones and the defense, it will likely be a welcome sight for Seattle fans ready for a change to help the defense perform better going forward.
