Despite the big win for the Seattle Seahawks in Santa Clara today, the day was dominated in Seattle by the Mariners being in contention for a playoff spot on the final Sunday of the baseball season. Before their game against the 49ers, the Seahawks showed their love for their next-door neighbors.

After the game, the Seahawks' official Twitter chimed in to show their support after the Red Sox and Yankees victories and Mariners crushing loss which eliminated them from playoff contention.

Pete Carroll also started his post-game press conference with a shout-out to the Mariners and his counterpart, Mariners manager Scott Servais, for their victory on Saturday night. He must have been aware of the result of today but, obviously was not able to watch.

While the Mariners’ playoff drought will extend another season, the team won 90 games for the first time since 2003 and delighted the fanbase with their thrilling games and incredible push for the wild card.
