Well, that was refreshing. The Seahawks dominated wire-to-wire Sunday en route to a 31-7 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, thanks in large part to the involvement of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in the offensive game plan. Metcalf scored two touchdowns, the first of which was an absolute “Mossing” of former teammate Shaquill Griffin.
DK on his jump-ball touchdown over Shaq: “I’ve been here for a while, and that’s probably the first time I’ve got a pass like that. It just felt great to come down with it. It starts with trust, and that was displayed out there.” https://t.co/WZfHqhWoKv

Metcalf hugged the goalpost after the score, in an Antonio Brown tribute, but was surprised to be penalized.

With the two touchdowns against Jacksonville, Metcalf has joined some elite company.
.@Seahawks WR @dkm14 has 25 career TD receptions and joined Randy Moss (36) and Odell Beckham Jr. (34) as the only wide receivers since 1990 with at least 25 touchdown receptions in their first 40 career games. #GoHawks

Geno Smith had his best game of his Seahawks career, completing 20/24 passes and scoring three total touchdowns.

Before today, the last time Geno Smith won a start was in 2016, when he tore his ACL after eight passing attempts. Before that, it was the 2014 season finale. Here was Smith on his first win in a long time: pic.twitter.com/Qn9WqB7oXn

The Seahawks were in good spirits after the win, and a lot of players were happy to joke with reporters.
Geno Smith, on Quandre Diggs saying he, Smith, is a bad video-game player: Diggs is just mad because I beat him all the time in video games.

Former Big 12 (Texas) DB Quandre Diggs on now-#Seahawks teammate Geno Smith: “He’s not as mobile as he was at West Virginia. I told him that on the sideline. …

Even though Diggs was joking a bit with reporters, he got down to business at times during his presser.
Quandre Diggs is in full promotion for his upcoming contract situation. “In my mind, no one can tell me I’m not the best safety in the league.”

Said “my IQ” and knowing Bevell, Schottenheimer would test him on that route are why he got that INT. #Seahawks pic.twitter.com/n74Ec4IKfy
Diggs was excellent Sunday, as was the whole secondary, including Tre Brown.

Here are some injury updates from coach Carroll.
Pete Carroll said CB D.J. Reed pulled his groin. No word on the severity but Carroll said it was bad enough to keep Reed from returning to the game, even if it wasn’t a blowout. Carroll said that was the Seahawks’ only injury of the day.

Carroll says he has no update on Russell Wilson but says finger continues to improve.

And finally, let’s close with a big win for the “nerds.”
Pete just said “check the DVOA numbers” in one of his responses just now and that’s gotta be the first time he’s subtly admitted the nerds have won.
