Seahawks tender Bryan Mone, Kyle Fuller as Exclusive Rights Free Agents

You want Seattle Seahawks free agency news? You’ve got it! Okay it’s not any big news but it’s not small potatoes either!

The team has tendered defensive tackle Bryan Mone and offensive lineman Kyle Fuller as Exclusive Rights Free Agents (ERFAs), per ESPN’s Brady Henderson. For ERFAs all a team has to do is offer a one-year contract for the league minimum (which varies based on accrued seasons) and at that point negotiating with other teams is completely off the table. The minimum is $660,000 for rookies, $780,000 after two accrued seasons, and $850k for three.

Mone was mostly on the practice squad in 2019 and wasn’t activated to the 53-man roster until late in the season. He played in 10 games for the Seahawks in 2020, missing six due to an ankle injury. His main role was as a run-stuffer and that he did very well, becoming one of the more valuable rotational pieces on Seattle’s defensive line.

We saw Fuller, who did play several games in Houston in 2018, get one start against the Los Angeles Rams in place of the injured Ethan Pocic. It did not go well and he had a couple of iffy snaps, including one that resulted in a lost fumble. Seattle’s center position is very much uncertain given Pocic is a free agent, so you might as well keep him around considering he’s also capable of playing guard.

The remaining ERFAs on the roster are Ryan Neal, Linden Stephens, Patrick Carr, Jayson Stanley. Don’t fret if you see Neal hasn’t been tendered yet. I wrote this on Wednesday night and for all we know there’s going to be an announcement/report on Thursday of him getting the tender treatment. Anyone who isn’t tendered by next week will become an unrestricted free agent.
