According to MMQB’s Albert Breer, the Seattle Seahawks have made a strong bid to “poach” running back Leonard Fournette from the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Buccaneers RB Leonard Fournette is weighing an offer to remain in Tampa (Brady is recruiting him back), but the Seahawks have made a strong bid to poach him. Stylistically, Seattle would be an interesting fit.

Breer’s tweet also says that Tom Brady is trying to recruit Fournette to return to Tampa. Of course, money is involved as Fournette hits the free-agent market for the first time in the offseason (Was a free agent midseason last year after being cut by Jacksonville) so I would assume Brady’s recruitment can only go as far as the Bucs pockets.
According to Breer, the New England Patriots, who have been uber-active in just one and a half days of free agency, are also in play for Fournette. This would be quite a story if Fournette opted to sign with New England over Tampa Bay, considering who the QB is in Tampa.
For those wondering, there have also been no reports about Chris Carson returning to Seattle, and the interest in Fournette could spell lukewarm feelings for fourth year back Rashaad Penny. With this report, it looks as if the Seahawks will be looking for shorter (in years) and cheaper options than Carson, after having already watched Carlos Hyde agree to follow Brian Schottenheimer to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
