Big news coming from a Seattle Seahawks division rival yet again.
The San Francisco 49ers just traded away four draft picks for the rights to the number three overall selection in this year's NFL Draft.
Filed to ESPN: Dolphins trading No. 3 overall pick to the San Francisco 49ers for the No. 12 pick, a 2021 third-round pick (SF’s comp pick for Robert Saleh hiring) and first-round picks in 2022 and 2023, per sources.

Blockbuster deal with massive ramifications for years to come.
As the tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter says, the Miami Dolphins will receive the 49ers 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, along with their 2021 third-round comp pick, and their first-round picks in 2022 and 2023.
...Except Miami doesn’t even have the 12th overall pick anymore. They immediately traded that to the Philadelphia Eagles to move back up six spots to #6 overall in one of the craziest one-hour sequences you’ll ever see outside of actual draft day.
The Eagles have traded the 6th pick in the draft to Miami for 12 and a 2022 first-rounder.

This means 1 of 1 thing, and that is that the 49ers are trading up to draft whoever is the best available at the #3 pick out of the group of Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, and Trey Lance. It is impossible to imagine that the 49ers would trade that much draft capital to take top offensive tackle prospect Penei Sewell or another non-QB top prospect.
As you may have figured out, the Jimmy Garoppolo era in San Francisco will surely be coming to a close soon. Garoppolo has two years left on his contract that carries a near $27 million cap hit with minimal dead cap if he is cut, so it is possible that he could be cut this offseason. A 49ers source told Schefter that Jimmy G is here to say but we know a lot of things are said that turn out to be false.
This could turn out to be a huge immediate blow to the Seahawks if the 49ers hit a home run on their pick, as they will have cap space and a QB on a rookie contract for the next five years possibly, hurting the Seahawks chances in an already tough division.
