The Seattle Seahawks have seen a lot of shuffling on the defensive line this offseason, with Carlos Dunlap first released, then brought back. That went along with Jarran Reed’s release, Poona Ford’s extension, the return of Al Woods and signing of Kerry Hyder, and now yet another name has been added to the group.
Aldon Smith has agreed to a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks, according to a source. Smith had his best game of the 2020 season against Seattle, recording three sacks in Week 3. The Cowboys nearly traded him to the Seahawks at the trade deadline but decided to keep him.

So, while the Hawks may not have a defensive line like the Cleveland Browns, with bookend number one overall selections at the defensive end spots, the Seahawks have certainly addressed the group during the offseason. Add the potential for second year defensive end Darrell Taylor to potentially see the field in 2021, and it’s a group that will certainly bring optimism to fans this offseason.
In any case, Aldon Smith comes to the Seahawks after having spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys during his career. Of the 52.5 sacks he has recorded in the regular season during his career, seven of them were of Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson, so this is likely a welcome addition to the roster for the Seahawks signal caller.
