The Seahawks did the unexpected on Friday and made a selection at pick 56. In a second round that saw a flurry of trades early, Schneider and Carroll used every second of their allotted time and ended up selecting speedster D’Wayne Eskridge out of Western Michigan. So how crazy of a playmaker is he? Good enough to deserve two highlight reels, for starters.
A common refrain I’ve heard about D’Wayne that he simply plays at a different speed than anybody else on the field. And when you watch his film, you will see just that: an explosive receiver who is dangerous after the catch and can make plays on the outside or over the middle (and even in the return game). He’s a blazer with sub-4.4 speed and elite short area quickness. Of course, the big question for Eskridge will be if he can keep up his playmaking ways in the pros. After watching the reels below, I’m feeling pretty optimistic.
The Seahawks are scheduled to pick next at 129th in the 4th round. GO HAWKS!
