Seahawks end up with three picks from 2021 NFL Draft after all

The Seattle Seahawks very often surprise us with their actual draft picks, but this year’s surprise is the lack of picks.

Seattle entered the 2021 NFL Draft with just three selections, and just about everyone expected the team to have a few more than that given their propensity to trade down. Well they tried to trade down from 56th overall but couldn’t, they did trade down from 129th to 137th on Saturday and got a sixth-rounder in return, but they traded up in the sixth to take Florida tackle Stone Forsythe, sending their seventh-rounder to the Chicago Bears.

As of this moment the Seahawks have no more picks left. They started with three, could’ve had four, and unless they trade back into the seventh-round for the third consecutive season, this really will be just a three-person class. No team has had a class that sparse since the 1999 New Orleans Saints, who literally traded their entire slate of picks just to get Ricky Williams and call it a day.

Update: Press conference confirms they’re done making picks! Here’s your 2021 Seahawks Draft Class: D’Wayne Eskridge, WR (Western Michigan), Tre Brown, CB (Oklahoma), Stone Forsythe, OT (Florida)

One can only assume that the Seahawks will be very busy attacking the UDFA market once the draft is finished. There could be more gems there than normal given the Covid-related circumstances of the past year.
