Some roster news to start off the work week!

The Seattle Seahawks recently let go of defensive back LaDarius Wiley, leaving an open spot on the 90-man roster. That vacancy has since been filled by undrafted cornerback Will Sunderland.

John Boyle has the skinny on Sunderland:

Sunderland, who is 6-foot-2, 196 pounds, went undrafted out of Troy in 2020 and signed with Green Bay following the draft. After being waived by the Packers as part of roster cuts, Sunderland later signed to Indianapolis’ practice squad in October.

After converting from safety to cornerback, Sunderland earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors in 2019, recording four interceptions, four passes defensed and 38 tackles. Sunderland began his college career at Oklahoma before transferring to Troy.

So yet another safety to CB convert, much like we saw from Tre Flowers.

Pure depth signing and nothing really eye-catching beyond him fitting the more traditional profile of a Pete Carroll cornerback, but this is just news to pass along as we are now exactly two months away from the Seahawks’ first preseason game of the 2021 campaign.
