DK Metcalf will be participating in another non-football sporting event this summer.

After competing in the U.S. 100 meter Olympic trials in May, the Seattle Seahawks star receiver was revealed to be making another foray into niche athletics Monday, when the MLB announced that he would be on one of the rosters for the league’s Celebrity Softball game. The game will take place on July 11th at Coors Field as a part of All-Star Weekend festivities.

Metcalf did not play baseball in high school, although he did showcase his skills in 2019 when he threw the first pitch at a Mariners game. He will be joined by plenty of retired MLB talent, though, including CC Sabathia and Hunter Pence, although its unknown whether or not these two will be his teammates. Other participants include rapper Quavo, internet star JoJo Siwa, and country artist Kane Brown.

Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how Metcalf’s football skills translate to the softball diamond. He could certainly be an effective pinch runner, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him send a moonshot into left field (especially given Coors Field’s high altitude). Just don’t count on him to track down every fly ball.
