The Seattle Seahawks had a vacant roster spot with training camp looming, but they have made a signing!
On Friday the team announced the addition of former Stanford running back Cameron Scarlett, which gives Seattle the maximum 90 players on the active roster.
Scarlett was an undrafted free agent in 2020 and signed with the Tennessee Titans, but was waived prior to the start of the season. At Stanford he had his breakout year as a redshirt senior, rushing for 840 yards on 201 carries for 7 touchdowns, earning team MVP honors in the process. He was also a regular kick returner for the team in 2017 and 2018.
Here’s some tape of him from Stanford vs. Northwestern back in 2019.
Seattle’s running back depth chart with camp beginning next week consists of Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, Travis Homer, DeeJay Dallas, Alex Collins, Josh Johnson, and now Scarlett.
You may have also seen news that the Seahawks are meeting with wide receiver Dede Westbrook, so it’s possible we see changes to the 90-man roster even before Wednesday’s first camp session.
