Wednesday morning the Seattle Seahawks gave fans a jolt of reality during training camp, a period of time more typically reserved for unbridled optimism and hope for the upcoming season. This reality came in the form of the release of Aldon Smith, who had by many accounts impressed fans and teammates alike to this point in camp.
However, when one door closes another opens, and as such the Hawks moved Wednesday afternoon to fill the open spot on the roster.

While many fans had hoped the open roster spot would be filled by K.J. Wright, Lakiem Williams it is. Williams, a native of Tacoma, was a teammate of second year Seahawks defensive lineman Alton Robinson at Syracuse and had visited the Seahawks for a tryout over the weekend with injuries having depleted the linebacking group so far in camp.
So, while it’s not the name most fans wanted to hear, the Seahawks have indeed added a linebacker to the roster.
