The Seattle Seahawks spent much of the offseason putting together a large, competitive group of defensive linemen, with many of the names added bringing significant excitement to fans who watched the defensive line lack pass rush for much of the 2020 season. However, according to a report Wednesday morning from Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the team has apparently already made a decision regarding one of the names which had fans very excited.
The #Seahawks are releasing Aldon Smith, source says.

Aldon Smith is likely best known to Seattle fans from his time terrorizing the Seahawks offensive while a member of the San Francisco 49ers. That, of course, was prior to a string of off field incidents that led to a series of suspensions and several years out of the league. After four years out of the league, though, Smith returned to the field in 2020 as a member of the Dallas Cowboys prior to signing with the Seahawks in free agency.
Many fans are likely to be disappointed at this development, but the simple fact of the matter is that the team is less than a week away from needing to make the first five roster cuts in order to reduce the roster from 90 to 85 players prior to 4 PM New York Time next Tuesday.
