The Seattle Seahawks are taking on the Denver Broncos in a matchup of former AFC West division rivals in the second preseason game for both teams. Obviously, the one thing everyone hopes for during the preseason is that players gain experience and stay healthy, though in the NFL that latter part often proves not to be the case. For Seahawks linebacker and core special teams member Ben Burr-Kirven, the openining kickoff proved disastrous.
BBK has a knee injury and will not return.

The local broadcast went to commercial and did not show a replay of the injury. However, those outside the Seattle area who are watching on the NFL GamePass feed were shown the replay twice, as the stream does not go to commercial breaks. I was unable to get a screenshot of the injury, but BBK hyperextended his knee very severely, and I will be very surprised if there is not substantial ligament damage which requires surgery.
He’ll certainly have an MRI in order to evaluate exactly what the injury is, and Field Gulls will keep fans updated as more information becomes available.
