Following the loss of linebacker Ben Burr-Kirven in the preseason Week 2 loss to the Denver Broncos, many fans imagined that the Seattle Seahawks would turn to free agency to fill the void. In particular they hoped that the team would bring back long time Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright, and Monday a report from NFL Insider Ian Rapoport indicated that Seattle is indeed turning to the free agent market to address the defense.

However, it is not Wright who is reportedly linked to Seattle at this time.

Geno Atkins, of course, was a teammate of Carlos Dunlap with the Cincinnati Bengals before Dunlap was traded to Seattle last fall at the trade deadline. Adding Atkins would be continue the strengthening of the defensive line for the Hawks through free agency which has been taking place since free agency started. In addition to bringing back Dunlap after releasing him in a cap move, the Hawks also added free agents Kerry Hyder, Benson Mayowa, Al Woods, Robert Nkemdiche and Aldon Smith in free agency, though Smith of course has already been released.
