Tuesday the Seattle Seahawks made the moves necessary to trim the roster from 81 players down to 53. The moves included the release of three veterans who were not subject to the waiver wire and the waiving of 26 players who were subject to waivers.

The other 31 teams across the NFL all made similar moves, with hundreds of players hitting waivers, two of whom wound up in Seattle. Both Dakoda Shepley, claimed from the San Francisco 49ers, and Nigel Warrior, claimed from the Baltimore Ravens, were added to the Seahawks roster Wednesday afternoon. Those two additions, of course, required the team to make a pair of corresponding moves in order to remain in compliance with the maximum of 53 players on the roster.

At least one of the moves the team made in order to create the pair of spots necessary for Shepley and Warrior is now known.

So, Phil Haynes, drafted in 2019 out of Wake Forest, but who has been beset by injuries early in his career, has been waived to open up the first spot.
