Injury Update: Rashaad Penny questionable to return

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks had little trouble with the Indianapolis Colts in the first half of their Week 1 matchup to open the 2021 NFL season, jumping out to a 21-10 lead. Chris Carson has been a monster carrying the football and quarterback Russell Wilson has looked nearly unstoppable in the new offense of Shane Waldron.

However, when they take the field for the second half, there are questions about whether or not Carson’s backup will see the field.

Rashaad Penny had a pair of carries for eight yards during the first half, but appears to have aggravated a calf injury that has been bothering him. He was listed as limited on the Seahawks injury report earlier in the week, but was the first running back off the bench for the Hawks, spelling Carson after a 33 yard run in the first quarter.

Whether the team turns to Travis Homer or DeeJay Dallas to fill Penny’s snaps if he’s unable to go in the second half remains to be seen. That said, if Seattle continues to roll over the Colts as they have so far, the team may opt to rest Penny out of an abundance of caution simply to make his health a top priority.
