The Seattle Seahawks won in Week 1 but saw a few players go down with injuries. One maligned running back may be out for several week, reported by Ian Rapoport.
#Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny reaggravated a calf injury in Sunday’s game and is expected to be shut down for a few weeks to fully heal, source said. A stint on IR may be the solution.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 13, 2021
The indication that IR may be on the table is beyond ominous in this, the final chance for Rashaad Penny to save his Seahawks career.
Penny was only on the field for a few snaps on Sunday before quietly exiting...and this is not what anyone had hoped.
Perhaps no one will ever touch the injured-yet-rostered status of C.J. Prosise, who seemed not to be able to walk sideline to sideline without getting hurt. But at this point put Penny down for runner-up candidate.
From the moment he entered the league - and immediately missed time with a...finger injury - availability has been an issue for Penny.
As this has been determined a “re-aggravation” it may be one of the reasons Seattle kept five running backs on the roster this year. Either way, It’s a fine time to have Alex Collins behind Chris Carson, in whom many had expressed a greater faith in anyway.
