Back in 2020, the Seattle Seahawks took Darrell Taylor in the second round. In interviews, the Seahawks’ general manager John Schneider noted that he liked Taylor enough to even consider taking him in the first round. Unfortunately for Taylor though, he suffered a leg injury and landed on the non-football injury list and was sidelined for his entire rookie season.
Against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, Darrell Taylor made his official NFL debut. He looked really good racking up three pressures - a sack, a hit, and a hurry - on just 12 pass rush attempts. In my latest video, I focused mainly on his pass rush going over his three moves: dip and rip, spin, and speed-to-power conversion.
During this game, Darrell Taylor faced off against right tackle Braden Smith. Last season, Smith was rated as one of the Top 20 offensive tackles by Pro Football Focus. Needless to say, Taylor playing so well against such a high-quality opponent is really exciting. With how he looked during this game, Taylor might be the long-lost LEO edge rusher the Seattle Seahawks have been looking for.
