I dislike the LA Rams. And can you blame me? If you are a Seattle Seahawks fan, you probably share this same contempt. But after another disappointing collapse and another game that came down to one final drive... most of my anger is directed at the Seahawks. They came out of the gate swinging, and looked like they were on their way to a much needed victory over one of their NFC West foes. And of course they did the exact opposite of that. Following a first half that looked like they were going to run away with it... we got a second half that featured an injury to Geno Smith that resulted in a brief and unsuccessful appearance by Drew Lock, followed by a thrilling finale that just seemed too good to be true... because it was. So what catharsis does the internet have to offer? The answer is “a lot,” but let’s start with some of the good so we can at least give ourselves a bit of an emotional cushion after that nauseating display of chaotic ineptitude.
Drew Lock in for the Seahawks? pic.twitter.com/C08BdgtK4z

Woolen with the pterodactyl pick right as Sauce Gardner gives up the longest touchdown the NFL has seen this season https://t.co/IIi8gIMhqG

These @Seahawks Corners got something on their minds right now! One of the best Tandems in the @NFL pic.twitter.com/6xj5ZJ76ir

And maybe even better is the fact that we can finally put the whole “put Drew Lock in” debacle to bed.

After that interception, Drew Lock has a passer rating of 2.8.

The bench Geno crowd is awfully quiet...

Okay... I’m ready now... Here comes the pain.
Seahawks really got swept by an XFL rams squad full of EA generated players pic.twitter.com/P9i8hwMLRR

Well the #Seahawks offense might be able to find a way to move the ball… pic.twitter.com/ktNrXilgky

"This is pretty good by Drew Lock"
— free haener committee (@wrongopinionman) November 19, 2023
He completely missed the guy. Miscommunication or not it was not "pretty good"
Pete Carroll: “I’m really disappointed…we did this to ourselves” #Seahawks @thenewstribune pic.twitter.com/8OwHurNdFk
— Gregg Bell (@gbellseattle) November 20, 2023
Absolutely inexcusable. #Seahawks can spike the ball with :25 seconds to go, regroup and have 1 or 2 plays to make it a manageable FG.

Incredible at this level to make those types of coaching mistakes. pic.twitter.com/gJc1JldLOd
Awful loss aside, that was a superhero drive from Geno Smith to put Seattle in position to win the game
— Mike Barwin (@MikeBarwin) November 20, 2023
Why do the Seahawks j stop playing football when we are up by anything over one score?? Like our offense j stops trying. This has been a thing for years bro https://t.co/FQOyZAs1b2
— Jamalszn (@Jamalsznn) November 20, 2023
that was a pretty stupid fucking game, felt like I wasted braincells watching that
— ✂️R✂️ (@TheGaychel) November 20, 2023
Strong chance the Broncos finish with a better record than Seattle now.
— Mookie Alexander (@mookiealexander) November 20, 2023
Why did they run after the Metcalf throw? Clock it, get another throw in. Settled for a 55-yarder for no reason. Actually, the game deserves that ending. Embarrassing game management from Carroll and co. #Seahawks
— Rob Staton (@robstaton) November 20, 2023
People also had some genuinely good analysis, because at the end of the day, games like this highlight some of what separates the Seahawks from playoff contenders.
Maybe if Waldron wouldn’t put third and short situations on Geno’s back some of you wouldn’t be talking about how “mid” he is. Run the ball more on third and short, Shane! Lock isn’t the answer and y’all saw that too. Play calling has definitely been an issue.
— Mikaela Mattes (@mikaelamattes) November 20, 2023
That feels like the end of the season. Had to win that game.
— Jeff Simmons (@realjeffsimmons) November 20, 2023
Brutal penalty call on Witherspoon that gave extra 4 points, Waldron was terrible after the scripted plays. Myers gotta hit that kick.
And then there is the obligatory commentary around officiating, which I take no official position on, officially.
Roughing — Donald did the shoulder drive thing Seattle is ALWAYS called for.
— luke (@ColdWunz) November 19, 2023
Offsides — #53
Unnecessary roughness — threw Charbonnet out of bounds https://t.co/snNSycsUQ5
We can gripe about stuff our team couldve done better and that's every game but this game was very clearly controlled by the refs. They don't call half the bullshit on us that wasn't warranted and these situations don't exist. Horseshit
— Someguy9000 (@Someguy90002) November 20, 2023
Alright my last thing before I get off here for the night is this:
— free haener committee (@wrongopinionman) November 20, 2023
If officiating is not getting any better, and there is no accountability for the officiating, the bring back the ability to challenge PI.
I know the challenge PI year was excruciating but this is ridiculous.
To be clear I don't subscribe to the theory of ref bias. The Seahawks winning this game is more interesting for the NFL than the Rams winning. But still... https://t.co/VeotwV59la
