The Seattle Seahawks (6-4) had a win in their hands against the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday, but let a 13-0 lead slip and took a brutal 17-16 loss on the road. As if that wasn’t enough, Geno Smith hurt his elbow and Kenneth Walker suffered an oblique strain. Luckily, the Seahawks have a full week to prep—-

Well, turns out this is a bad time to have a short week. And that short week is a Thanksgiving night game will be against the NFC West-leading San Francisco 49ers (7-3), who swept Seattle last season 3-0.

While Walker is out, Geno will play and so will Jamal Adams, who missed the Rams game with his quad injury. It’s still a tall order for the Seahawks to win this one, as the 49ers look like they’re back to their best after a three-game losing skid. Brock Purdy was practically flawless against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while the defense has been its usual outstanding self. One notable loss for the 49ers is safety Talanoa Hufanga, who tore his ACL on a non-contact play.

A win for Seattle, despite notorious inconsistencies on both sides of the ball, would give them the NFC West lead on a tiebreaker. Victory for San Francisco would give them a stranglehold in the division, and they would be well positioned for a second straight division crown.

It’s a night game in Seattle—the first Thanksgiving one at Lumen Field, in fact—so you know the atmosphere will be as loud as those Action Green uniforms!
