In fantasy football one way to organize and rank players is to put them into tiers. In this season look-ahead for the Seahawks, I use tiers for offense, defense and quarterback to predict an outcome … a win, loss or a game that could swing either way. The prediction is based on an even weighting for offense and defense with the QB and home/away swinging the even and nearly even games. You can scream about the rankings and the process (please do) but this is generally where I see things are at this point.

Seahawks Ranks

Week 1 vs LA Rams at Home

• QB (Stafford, Tier 2)
• Offense: Tier 4
• Defense: Tier 1
• Difference: Swing-

This game will be all about the Rams defense. The home crowd needs to offset Stafford’s advantage and the defense needs have a good game to give the Seahawks a chance to prevent two losses this season to the Rams.

Week 2 vs Detroit Away

• QB (Goff, Tier 3)
• Offense: Tier 2
• Defense: Tier 5
• Difference: Swing+
• Prediction: Win

Geno and the offense needs take it to the Lions. Last year was a high scoring shootout and the defense needs to keep them under control this year. The Seahawks need at least a split of these first two games. They need to win both to signal they are contender this year.

Week 3 vs Carolina at Home

• Offense: Tier 4
• Defense: Tier 4
• Difference: +2
• Prediction: Win

Should be no problem. They do need to play to their potential.

Week 4 vs NY Giants Away

• QB (Jones Tier 3)

• Difference: Swing
• Prediction: Loss

This loss between two evenly matched teams is all about the time zones. If the Seahawks are playing well this could be a win.

• Prediction: Loss

Would be nice to take advantage of their defense but still an unlikely win.

Week 7 vs Arizona at Home

Need to play like the superior team that they are.

Week 8 vs Cleveland at Home

• QB (Watson Tier 2)

Should be able to take this Swing game at home. Watson could be trouble but we just need to keep him bottled up.

Week 9 vs Baltimore Away

Jackson + very good defense + Away … a win only if the Seahawks have turned into a very good team and Geno is now busting out of Tier 3 or the injury bug has bitten the Ravens.

Seahawks will win at home in a lower scoring game.

Can the Seahawks turn this loss into a win on the road? That would be a major step forward.

SF is good. Will Purdy still be the guy? Who knows. As it is now they look to be the better team.

Week 13 vs Dallas Away

Away against another Tier 2 QB… Need to be on a late season run to win this one with the offense and defense on a roll.

Are the Seahawks on their level yet? From this preseason standpoint, no.

All comes down to who is the big dog at this point in the season. Hurts will be hard to control.

Week 16 vs Titans Away

The Titans have likely given up by now and are playing for draft position.

Week 17 vs Steelers at Home

Geno and Company should be able to put up enough points for the win.

Week 18 vs Arizona Away

A good game to finish with. Just keep the injuries at bay.

Prediction: 8 wins 9 losses … this is most likely their floor.

They could be 11 and 6 and that is probably their ceiling.

They have a chance at 11 wins but to do that they need to win some of those Swing losses. To get there, Geno needs to step up to play at Tier 2 level, like a lot of people think he already is, and the defense needs to keep them in the game.
