Our captain has been asked to leave. Ceremoniously, to some extent. If there was a vacant desk or two in the room, I’m betting someone would have stood on top and proclaimed eternal solidarity. Our Seattle Seahawks have made a choice to move on from legendary Head Coach and Head of Player Personnel Pete Carroll and really, things will never be the same. In the way that Mike Holmgren changed the course of the ‘Hawks, Pete Carroll changed, and challenged, our squad and the entire National Football League. His tenure in Seattle was brazen and honest, wild and free, successful and yet disappointing. Carroll’s empathy, energy, spirit, and heart shown through intentionally and loudly week-in and week-out. All things inspirational for not only football coaches and people in positions of leadership, but also aspiring good humans. From “Scorigami” to his beautiful head of hair, and everything in-between, Pete Carroll will continue to rouse, and ignite lovers/haters of our Seattle Seahawks, and competitors of all shapes and sizes. We will miss you forever, Pete.

Jan. 10—I've never been more wrong about a coach than Pete Carroll. He hadn't shown great promise in two previous NFL head coaching jobs, and his massive success at USC seemed a showcase for his public-relations and recruiting skills.
