The Open Field: The Pete Carroll appreciation thread

We celebrate the greatest coach in Seahawks history.

Super Bowl XLVIII - Seattle Seahawks v Denver Broncos

Pete Carroll couldn’t coach the Seattle Seahawks forever, but it’s still jarring to think that he won’t be the coach for the 2024 season. He’ll still be with the organization in an advisory role, but that’s just not the same.

Yes, we’ve had our fair share of gripes with Pete even during the glory years, but especially in recent seasons with the lack of playoff wins. However, there is no debating Carroll’s place in Seattle sports history, let alone the Seahawks. He’s the greatest coach the franchise has ever had, and it’ll take some doing for anyone to better his accomplishments.

This is an open thread to celebrate Pete Carroll and everything he’s meant to the Seahawks. It doesn’t matter if it’s a favorite win, GIF, quote, video, celebration, post-game pep talk, a personal anecdote excessive use of the word “frickin’,” it doesn’t matter. Scroll down to the comments section and let’s all reminisce about the high points of the Carroll Era.

You know you want to.

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend reading this tale from former Field Gulls film analyst Matty F. Brown, who had the dream opportunity to work the Seahawks vs. Buccaneers game in Germany as credentialed media, and got to speak to the great man himself. This is accessible through his website, as well.
