An OCD Proposal for Changing NFL Conference Alignments

There was a time when there was an AFL and an NFL. The Superbowl was created to identify the best team in the two major Leagues. The leagues merged and the Superbowl continues to be the test of Champions. The two leagues used to look and play differently. One was pass heavy, while the other was run heavy. Anymore, though, both the AFC and NFC look pretty much alike, and while the strength and quality of each conference may vary over time, there really isn't much reason to pretend there are two "conferences."

I think we need to shake up the NFL, and since I enjoy an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (which is to say, I like things to make sense), I would propose creating two new conferences identified by Team Mascots. The "Animal" Football conference would include those teams with non-human mascots, and the "Nominal" Football Conference consisting of teams with human mascots. The new alignment would look like this:

AFC: Cardinals, Falcons, Ravens, Panthers, Bears, Bengals, Broncos, Lions, Colts, Jaguars, Rams, Dolphins, Giants, Eagles, Seahawks, and Titans (Giants and Titans are non-human, so belong here).

NFC: Bills, Browns, Cowboys, Packers, Texans, Chiefs, Chargers, Vikings, Patriots, Saints, Jets, Raiders, Steelers, 49ers, Buccaneers, and Commanders (Jets are flown by humans).

There is more I would propose, in terms of creating new divisions, but that can wait. How does this strike you? As a Seahawk fan, I think it could fly!
