2013 NFL Draft: Shrine Game -- Monday practice report - CBSSports
For some non-FBS prospects, the toughest part of the draft process can be shedding the dreaded "small school" label. And one way to do that is in these pre-draft all-star games when they're pitted against players from the SEC, Big Ten and other "power" conferences.

Pete Carroll wants a few good pass rushers | ProFootballTalk
"We need another pass rusher," Carroll said, via the Tacoma News-Tribune. "We really do. That’s why we went out and got Jason (Jones) last year. And we’re going to have to double it up. We need a couple of guys."

Matt Flynn could be trade option for teams needing a quarterback | ProFootballTalk
The Seahawks signed Flynn last March to a three-year, $26 million deal to presumably be the team’s starting quarterback. Head coach Pete Carroll never said Flynn would be the starter, instead saying he would have to compete for the job with incumbent starter Tarvaris Jackson. But what Flynn didn’t expect was for a third-round rookie to come in and take the job out from underneath him. "I’ll forever regret the fact that we never got to chance to see him play very much. Everything he did was on point; Russell Wilson just never let it happen. As we move forward we’re going to figure it out," Carroll said.

Bevell is one of the hottest assistants in the NFL, given the remarkable rookie season of Russell Wilson, a third-round pick who performed brilliantly throughout the season and finished with the fourth-best passer rating (100.0). Bevell also was the offensive coordinator in Minnesota when Brett Favre had an MVP-caliber 2009 season.

NFL MANNIAC: An NFL fan's lament....or not?
It's been over 24 hours now since my heart was ripped out (twice). It should be known, that I'm a lifelong Seahawks fan (actually born the same year the franchise was established -1976). It's hard to explain the emotions I felt over the course of the game. For the first quarter, I was frustrated, but had hope. By the end of the second quarter, I was flat out irate (little to no hope). With two minutes left in the third quarter (down 27-7), I was convinced the game was over. No matter what, I had to continue to watch the game. The fourth quarter was the greatest quarter of football I've ever seen a Seahawk quarterback play. With 31 seconds left, I was completely elated. Little did I know, I would be absolutely devastated just moments later.

Colin Kaepernick's college coach to his pupil: 'Just awesome' - San Jose Mercury News
Few people were more excited to see what Colin Kaepernick did against the Green Bay Packers than Chris Ault, the former coach at the University of Nevada. Ault, who stepped down following the 2012 season, developed the "pistol'' offense in which Kaepernick thrived at Nevada after not being heavily recruited as a high school player out of Turlock. His system of football will be carried on under new coach Brian Polian in 2013.

If you attempt to keep up he’ll run by you. If you try to get in his way he’ll run around you. And in those cases you succeed in sticking close, he’ll leap over you. Tennessee wide receiver Justin Hunter is a 6-4, 200 lb., gazelle in pads.

2013 NFL Mock Drafts : NFL Mock Draft: No quarterbacks in first round
As I did last year, I'll assemble my mock drafts based not on my own opinion, but on the opinions of people positioned squarely in the NFL trenches of talent evaluation. And so here we are, rolling out Mock 1.0 before the 2012 season is even complete.

STS 2013 NFL Mock Draft – Updated 1/11/2013 | Seattle Seahawks Blog
26. Seattle Player Selection: Sheldon Richardson – DT – Missouri Notes: The Seahawks continue to struggle with generating consistent pass pressure from the interior, making it harder on their speedy rush ends (Clemons and Irvin) to have a routine impact at the edges. Richardson brings an element of explosiveness and legitimate double-digit sack capability to a defense that could be a consistent pass-rush away from being the most dominant in the league for years to come.

Score one for Matt Ryan. Finally. 2013 Shrine Game: West Practice Notes for Tuesday
First off, I’ll just say that combining the fact that it was an "uppers only" practice and I got the chance to meet up and talk with Steve Muench of Scouts Inc for a long while, my West notes today are lacking more than expected.

Kenjon Barner and Dion Jordan starred at Oregon, but the NFL challenge starts now | Shutdown Corner - Yahoo! Sports
The Oregon Ducks came as close as they could to the number-one BCS ranking, and two of the primary reasons for the team's success in 2012 were running back Kenjon Barner and defensive end/linebacker Dion Jordan. Barner ran for 1,767 yards and 21 touchdowns on 278 carries for the Ducks in the 2012 season, adding 256 yards and two scores in 20 receptions for good measure. Jordan amassed 44 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 5.0 sacks for an Oregon defense that's better than most people realize. Impressive players at the collegiate level, to be sure, but each prospect enters the NFL draft process with serious questions about their size, and how well they'll be able to adapt to potential every-down roles in the pros.

Once the 2012 All-Pro teams were announced (my thoughts here), my buddies Mike Kania and Neil Paine worked through the weekend to provide us with Approximate Values for every player in the NFL this year. For the uninitiated, you can review how AV is calculated here. And if you’re so inclined, give a thanks to Neil or Mike or PFR on twitter.

West Practice Notes: 11.14.13 " Tom Melton's NFL Draft Blog
Kerwynn Williams- I wasn’t overly impressed with Williams when I watched film of him but he looked good to me today. He’s so quick even if he doesn’t have the size I usually like in running backs. I want to see him in a full pads prospect.
