Football Outsiders loves the Seahawks

I'm sure plenty of you have seen this, but I was to giddy to wait for another person to post it. Some highlights: Seahawks still 4th Total DVOA (31.9%, 8 points over packers) Offense Defense and ST all ranked in the top 6 DVOA! (Defense is the worst ranked). Offense ranked 5th DVOA, weighted as 2nd! Tate and Rice 3rd and 4th DVOA, and both top 20 DYAR Playoff Odds at 87%, almost 1/3 chance of Division 5th best chance of winning Superbowl Let me know if this is to long for a fanshot, I thought this wasn't enough to clog up a fanpost section.

Braylon Edwards waived; James Carpenter placed on Reserve/'Non-Football Illness' list

The Seahawks waived/injured WR Braylon Edwards today, and placed James Carpenter on the Reserve/Non-football Illness list. It's unclear what this means, exactly. OG Rishaw Johnson has been promoted 53-man roster. It hasn't been announced who will take Edwards' spot on the active roster yet.

Seahawks reportedly waive WR Braylon Edwards

Seattle has waived/injured WR Braylon Edwards, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Braylon Edwards waived, apparently?

From Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune's twitter. That would be... a little odd I think unless he actually got injured again which does not appear to be the case.

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | Week 13 Quick Reads

Today's Quick Reads on Football Outsiders lists Russell Wilson's Sunday performance as not just the best performance of the week, but also the best performance by a rookie in their database. (Going back to 1992, I believe.) There's also an extended comment on just how good Russell was on Sunday, which you might find highly informative.

Source: Dockett spat in Rhodes’ face

"That on-field incident between Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett and safety Kerry Rhodes was, in reality, an on-face incident. As in a spit-on-face incident. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Dockett spat in Rhodes face. The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter, with the Cardinals trailing 7-6 and the Jets driving. The Cardinals’ defense planned to let the Jets score a touchdown, which would have stretched the lead (with the extra point) to 14-6, and which would have given the Cardinals the ball back with a chance to force overtime. The only problem? Dockett didn’t want to let the Jets score. And so he resisted. And he resisted. And eventually, as Rhodes was trying to persuade Dockett to go along, Dockett let his saliva do the talking. The source says that Dockett will indeed be disciplined by the team, and that the team has been hoping to keep the situation under wraps, given that the team currently is in a bit of a free fall, with eight straight losses after a 4-0 start. It’s already bad for the Cardinals. Imagine how much worse it would be if the team were located in a major East Coast market." Why is this important to Seahawks fans? Well the Cardinals are traveling to Century Link this coming Sunday and could be without Dockett, who has generally played well in the past vs Seattle.
