The Seahawks tried out free agent linebackers Tavares Gooden, Larry Grant, Josh Hull, D.J. Holt, Tyrone McKenzie and Mike Taylor on Monday, likely in anticipation that Bobby Wagner sits another week with a high-ankle sprain. Pete Carroll mentioned on the radio Monday that Wagner was doing some things on the injury that was shocking to the medical crew, but considering high-ankle sprains are typically several week injuries at the least, the Hawks may be looking for some emergency depth. They'd previously had to release linebackers John Lotulelei and Allen Bradford for injury reasons at other positions.
Tarvares Gooden is a former 3rd round pick by the Ravens who also spent time in San Francisco. He's 29, and while injuries have limited his production during his career, he was a special teams standout for the Niners. Likewise, Larry Grant is another former Niner that has also spent some time with the Rams. Josh Hull is a 26-year old former Rams 7th round pick, and D.J. Holt is a 24-year old free agent out of Cal. McKenzie is a 27-year old former Viking, and Mike Taylor is a rookie UDFA out of Wisconsin.
Seattle has not signed any of these workouts to this point, but it's something to monitor.
