Pete Carroll announced in a press conference this afternoon that Percy Harvin was not able to get through the concussion protocol testing and will not play Sunday in the NFC Championship Game against the Niners. This is obviously a loss for the Seahawks, because Harvin's dynamic speed and explosiveness changes the complexion of their offense, but Seattle got to this point largely without his services so it doesn't change matters drastically.
Said Carroll: "He will not make it through the doctors' protocol and will not be able to go. It's super disappointing for Percy - he wants to play. You can see it, he played his tail off when he had his chance, it's just unfortunate circumstances."
At about the same time it was announced that Harvin would not play, Tom Pelissero of USA Today disclosed that the NFL has indeed fined Rafael Bush $21,000 for the hit that initially knocked Harvin out of the game last week.
Regardless, Harvin has not been practicing this week so Seattle has assumedly built their gameplan around Marshawn Lynch and plan to have a set of pass plays that complement the skill-sets of Doug Baldwin, Golden Tate, and Jermaine Kearse.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Seahawks did receive good news, as it was announced that WLB K.J. Wright will play on Sunday. This should be a big factor in Seattle's ability to defend the run, as Wright is one of Seattle's best in that area.
The official injury report has not yet been released, but generally speaking, Seattle is in good shape outside of Harvin's injury.
